Filter media of cassette filters are pleated, i.e. folded. This makes sense in order to achieve the largest possible filter media area. The pleated packets are cast in a frame made of plastic. Cassette filters are classified as depth-loading filters, which also applies to HEPA filters, filter mats and pocket filters.
